New Look - and New Flavors at Luquillo Beach

Artsy, breezy setting to relax and enjoy great food.

El Jefe Burger Shack, set up by Tim and Cheri
Blackford, a couple from the U.S.mainland who fell in
love with Puerto Rico and moved here in 2006, makes
the journey to Luquillo worthwhile. As experienced
veterans of the food and hospitality business, they
dreamed about a “burger shack” on the beach, with
cool ocean breezes and a laid-back attitude.

Cheri, an artist, decorated the kiosk with bright
murals and a crayon message wall. The beachfront
backyard is set up with mpsaic cement tables and
umbrellas. Tiny tin buckets serve as coolers, shot
glasses and as decorations. In this pleasant atmosphere,
you can enjoy flame-grilled chuck steak burgers served
on freshly baked buns, along with hand-cut fries or beer
battered onion wedges. Try the house specialty: El Jefe
stuffed burgers -- stuffed with beer braised shortribs,
Spanish chorizo or their firecracker blend of green chiles
and jalapenos.Tim, by the way, prepares a memorable
margarita as well.

Back From Vacation

Well, Tim and are are back from our two week vacation and boy are we ready to get back to work! We've decided that two weeks was too long to be away from the restaurant and will change up the schedule next year. Guess that's what happens when you love what you do! During our vacation we set some new goals for the coming year and one of those was to create this blog. We want to reach out to people who share our passion of great food, great times and life in Puerto Rico and thought this would be the best way to do it!

We still can't believe El Jefe Burger Shack has been open for over a year now... and what a year it's been! Check out all the awesome reviews we've recieved on Trip Advisor on the right nav bar. We've made many friends from all over the world and look forward to many more! Stay tuned for updates on area happenings, events, the art scene, new places to go and fun things to do in northeastern Puerto Rico. Peace to all!
